Oh! Deer!

It's just about light enough now in the mornings for me to go over to my allotment on the way to work and enjoy a few peaceful moments of early morning light and sound before heading into the belly of the beast. And this morning I'm especially glad I took the time to do that because, what did I see but two young deer, taking hoof and galloping away. I don't know what else they could have been. They weren't horses, and they weren't cryptids. Deer, in the suburbs. The wild at the edges of our worlds. Too fleet of foot for me to grab a photograph, so you'll just have to take my word for it.  I wanted to share this anyway because it made me happy, so perhaps it will make you happy too.
